Susan and I met up with my dad at the beautiful Ribblehead Station and watched on as he talked about the gardens connected with the Settle-Carlisle Railway, on the stations and those kept by the workers in the shanty towns around Ribblehead Viaduct. The wind was strong so the three had to huddle close to cut down the background noise! The world and his wife were at Ribblehead as our visit coincided with the Three Peaks Cycle Race passing through on the way from Whernside to Penyghent. No steam trains unfortunately!
